Seven new laboratories for MMK

Magnitogorsk metallurgical combine (MMK) has placed orders for the supply of secondary metallurgical plants, a cold strip complex including pickling/tandem line as well as finishing lines.

MMK is one of Russia's major steel producers. Through this investment, they will increase the production of cold-rolled galvanized strip with a view to supplying the automotive industry in particular, i.e., with steel sheet as well as various components for passenger compartments, the household appliances and the construction industries.

As a consortium partner of SMS Demag, STEINER GmbH Chemie u. Labortechnik was awarded a contract for seven specialty laboratories including all the necessary equipment and consumables required. These comprise laboratories for analytical chemistry, physical-mechanical testing, process chemistry, an evaluation laboratory, a laboratory for coating analysis, an environmental laboratory as well as a water and sewage laboratory which will all be delivered completely ready for installation and immediate operation. The scope of delivery also includes staff training.

Early this year, SMS Demag placed an order for laboratories for a continuous casting plant as well as for a plate rolling mill for MMK. Therefore Steiner GmbH Chemie u. Labortechnik is now acting as a consortium partner for SMS Demag for the second time.
